Look Back, Then Look AgainWhen starting a new chapter in our lives, we are often told to not look back and to only look forward. It is true that dwelling on the past can drag us down but, when moving, it is necessary to take the time to look back and make sure we are ready to move forward. Here are 10 of the most commonly forgotten items when moving. 10 of the Most Forgotten Items When Moving 1. Medicine 2. Dishes 3. Dry Cleaning 4. Borrowed items (books, tools) 5. Outdoor decorations 6. Memberships and address 7. Trash and utilities 8. Small appliances 9. Chargers 10. Garage opener Medications and dishes are often forgotten in homes during moves because they are out of sight and out of mind. When your life is packed up in boxes, you are ordering takeout every day because your kitchen is packed up and everything is a frantic rush to get ready for your next adventure, checking the dishwasher or behind the bathroom mirror is the last thing on your mind.
Many people also forget to look outside of their home for things that may be left behind. Dry cleaning and items that you may have borrowed or lent, along with outdoor decorations are more victims of abandonment on moving days. Other items forgotten outside of the home may not simply be objects. Often, memberships, trash and utilities, as well as memberships need to be canceled and addresses need to be changed. Because these things cannot be seen, they are that much easier to forget. Small appliances and chargers pose a different problem. Instead of being out of sight and out of mind, these items are always present. Many people leave behind these items because they glance over them every day and are used to having them where they are. The garage opener acts as a stowaway during these times as is just along for the ride. Moving can be hard, stressful and tedious. Use this list of items and add a few of your own when you move to make sure there is no need for a return trip and so you can enjoy your new adventure with all the comforts of home.
